Welcome! My name is Kimberly. As I began making a "one page southern culture" website, I thought of more ideas for web pages. It was time consuming, but I enjoyed every minute if it.

I was born and raised in Mississippi. I have been lucky enough to live the past 16 years in New Orleans, Boston, Idaho, Portland, and Salt Lake City at some point. I loved living in every place. Now, for the moment, I reside in Mississippi.

My interests include reading good books, genealogy, embroidery, southern cooking, and politics. My favorite all-time biography is David Brinkley A Memoir by David Brinkley. I love the older movies on Turner Classic Movies Channel. "Camille" with Greta Garbo is my favorite movie. I wish our society still knew the innocence of those times.

Since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by the history of my family and in later years, their role in American History. My 3rd Great-Grandfather was a plantation owner in Florida before the Civil War. When the Civil War erupted, he went broke supporting the Confederate cause. Legend has it that his daughters were devastated and never got over the loss of their belongings and the way of life they had in the past. This inspired me to read more of the history and culture of the Old South and to do my genealogy. I have visited most of the plantations in Mississippi and Louisiana to tour over the last 10 years. Currently, I am writing my first genealogy book and have plans to write on other family lines as well. This is personally very rewarding and I feel honored to tell their story.

My favorite political show is McLaughlin Group, especially love John McLaughlin. I adore David Brinkley, and watched him religiously every week until he retired. Many of you many remember John Chancellor, the NBC commentator, he was my favorite journalist.

I have a keen interest in politics, after visiting Washington, DC several times as a teenager. One of the most profound moments was at Arlington Cemetery. I remember standing on a hill, and looking down at the massive rows of graves. I felt such sorrow and appreciation for the men, that had died for our freedom. The POW/MIA issue is very dear to me. It disturbs me that we left some behind, and I hope one day most of them can be accounted for.

Well, thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoy the website!
